Miitopia: Onerio takes in the Miitopia universe, although when the event exactly takes place is unsure of the Miitopia Timeline.

Plot[]

Onerio starts with a simplified version of the Secrets of the Sandbox Worlds, which changes to the cutscene of the protagonist falling asleep in an inn, which the player may choose whether the protagonist is male or female (or neither genders), and choosing their name. After being complete, a cutscene of the protagonist hearing a warning from the Great Guardian is seen.

Gameplay[]

Miitopia: Onerio is played in a style of a RPG. The only few differences that Miitopia: Onerio has the player being able to control the member(s) of the guild. Similar mechanics as the Turn System are back, however some such as the Safe Spot no longer exists.

Here is a list of new mechanics:

  1. Grub: Grubs can be eaten as food. HP candies and MP candies are considered "grubs" too. The grub mechanic cannot work if a party member's stomach is full or isn't empty enough to be consumed. Some grubs not only restores MP or HP, but can give temporary buffs or debuffs. (Depending of character likes/dislikes the grub)
  2. Elemental Strength & Weakness: The classical RPG-styled elemental weakness. Attacks can be elemental (or be physical damage), as some elemental skills learned aren't always offensive. To name them Viya (Flame), Liyu (Frost), Ruka (Air), Zeta (Electricity), Nenga (Divine), Dashi (Curse), Healing (not offensive), and Supportive (Buffs, Debuffs, Auto-Passive Skills). Each job has pros and cons (such as using less MP of specific skills, however having stats lower than average), and affinities can be changed by Spirits, which can be collected from Treasure Chests or Negotiations with Monsters.
  3. Negotiation: Monsters that the player fights can be negotiated, which can result ending a battle if negotiations are safely managed nd successful. Negotiations can lead to protagonists earning crafting/sellable materials (such as wood), grub ingredients (such as ingredients like the Normal Mushroom), spirits (this does not worked for the "damned" Enemies in Emcortia), or Petsä (energy-unit of money). Failed negotiations can lead to a continued player's turn(s) or negating player's turn(s).
  4. Cooking: Enemies can possibly drop grub ingredients (but often times monster parts) which can used to create common grubs made in the Miitopia Series. Recipes for Creating may be done by clearing Side Quests at the Traveler's Hub or throughout Main Quests (as some bosses or characters may reward you by the recipes, don't ask me how that's possible), and rare foods can be cooked by adding specific special materials.
  5. Open-World Exploration: You can now navigate in a 3D World you may move your own protagonist across the vast World of Miitopia! Although watch out-- enemies are also exploring to kill you too. (Of course, there's the Escape Button!)
  6. Lore: There are collectible items across Miitopia and its other worlds, known as Lores. Collected Lores often tell what exactly happened to Miitopia and other worlds. It even mentions history, and sometimes cheat codes (Warning: Some Cheat Codes on Lores are and can lead to some bad results!) used for extra items, secret clothing, etc.
